A Killer Grin

A reletively recent edition in the catalogue of horror, this time from a movie series. One that had a lot of hype as being one of the scariest films in modern cinema. I'm not going to argue either way; for me it was just a very well made film with an original concept and a sequel that added to the story in a positive way.

I wrote this is a slightly different rhyming scheme than what I normally would, to try and do the original concept of the film some justice.

I witnessed a horror some days ago,

A life self-taken, horrifically so,

The face at the end,

A grin to distend,

Yet, with no happiness to show.

I need to move forward past this,

A sight I truly won't miss,

At the end of the day,

I will wish it away,

And return to my ignorant bliss.

Waking nightmares plague my day,

At night, they don’t go away,

A sinister smile,

To simply revile,

Bringing out this constant dismay.

Living with the lurking dread,

Burrowing deep within my head,

No-one can see,

It’s all on me,

It won’t be long ‘til I’m dead.

The mania is now my life,

Faltering from the encroaching strife,

These visions of torment,

Simply abhorrent,

Tiptoeing out on the edge of a knife.

Closer now, it’s all I see,

Forever in my periphery,

Run, don’t stop,

Fear the chop,

Can’t it just let me be?

The hourglass is out of sand,

Time for me to leave this land,

Its hands spin fate,

Without the weight,

It’s ending my life with my own hand.

The cycle continues to the next,

Another witness to be hexed,

A loaded gun,

That can’t be undone,

An expression with damning effects.
